And Now For Something Completely Morbid

I'm always fascinated by before-and-after methamphetamine galleries....
See, a few years ago, someone got the idea to collect the mugshots of people who have been arrested more than once for meth-related offenses, and then post their before-and-after images side by side. It only takes a few months for meth to basically destroy a user, and such galleries are remarkably effective in demonstrating just that.

Meth is like the new crack. Its effects are horrifying, yet it apparently remains popular among poor populations because it can be obtained cheaply. Other than the cost factor, I have no idea why these dumb rednecks continue to use it, though. Have they not noticed that it has no benefits? I mean, seriously -- have you EVER heard a meth story that was POSITIVE? Now, I don't want to say that other drugs are GOOD (because they're not), but I've been told plenty of fun stories involving booze or marijuana; I've read books written by former cokeheads who, at least in part, had an occasionally-enjoyable time while using; and I've listened to countless CDs of brilliant music written by artists under the influence of heroin or LSD...but METH??? Nothing. Never heard one good story...from anyone...anywhere...not even second-hand.

For me, the only silver lining to the methamphetamine epidemic is the occasional story about some hillbilly blowing up his shed or trailer when his washtub methlab catches fire. Now THAT'S funny! Otherwise, kiddies, don't mess with meth. Check out a gallery right here:
